Mar Ivanios School of Nursing

The history of Assisi Atonement Hospital dates back to 1968, when it began its journey as a modest clinic with a vision of providing compassionate healthcare services to the community. Over the years, the institution witnessed steady growth and development. As part of this progressive vision, the institution received permission from the Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council in 2000 to establish a School of Nursing, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to healthcare education and professional nursing development.

This visionary initiative was made possible through the dedicated efforts, farsightedness and exemplary leadership of the then Director, Rev. Fr. Mathew Karoor, and the Administrator, Rev. Sr. Ursula S.I.C. Their invaluable contributions are remembered with profound gratitude and appreciation.

The school commenced its academic journey with an intake of 20 students per batch. Through sustained progress, institutional development, and an unwavering commitment to academic excellence, the intake was subsequently increased to 30, then 35 per batch. At present, the institution admits 40 students per batch. The school received recognition from the Indian Nursing Council in August 2005, marking another important milestone in its institutional development.

Over the years, several dedicated individuals have served the institution as Principals. These include Mrs. Bindhu Kannan, Mrs. Sajina Sam, Mrs. Beena Alex, Rev. Sr. Lucy S.I.C, Rev. Sr. Kanchana S.I.C, Rev. Sr. Anice S.I.C, and Mrs. Lynn Lopez. Their efforts remain an integral part of the school’s journey and continue to inspire those who carry its mission forward.

At present, the institution functions under the leadership of Rev. Sr. Ursula S.I.C as Director; Rev. Dr. Sr. Sandra S.I.C as Administrator; Sr. Nithya S.I.C as Local Manager; and Sr. Prasanna S.I.C as Principal. Their collective leadership and commitment continue to guide the institution towards sustained development, academic excellence, and professional integrity.

Today, Mar Ivanios School of Nursing remains committed to its mission of imparting quality nursing education grounded in knowledge, skill, discipline, and compassion. Beyond academic instruction and clinical training, the institution strives to instil ethical values, a spirit of service, and a profound respect for human dignity in every student. With gratitude for its rich legacy and confidence in the opportunities that lie ahead, the school continues to nurture competent, compassionate, and socially responsible nursing professionals who are prepared to serve humanity with excellence and dedication.
